Tie a Day (Year 2), Number 126

This was the tie I wore on Wednesday, September 22nd, and I felt like a musical faker when I was wearing it. Luckily for me, I can now distract you with some useless cartoon information!

I think the idea for this tie came from the Bugs Bunny Cartoon, “Rhapsody Rabbit.” The cartoon was released to theaters in 1946 as a Merry Melodies short. The main differences are that on my tie, Bug's tie is red and the jacket is blue, but I will let you decide.

Tie a Day, Number 105

This past Monday’s tie is another from the Looney Tunes character tie collection. This tie fits in with numbers 5, 11, 45, 66, and 92. I don’t think I have anymore Looney Tunes ties in my collection so that brings the total number to six ties.

As a child, teenager, and adult I have seen a lot of cartoons. I am guessing that for at least 12 years I spent one hour a week watching the Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour. That breaks down to roughly one Looney Tunes tie for every 104 hours of watching Looney Tunes cartoons in my life. I have spent a lot of time in front of the television!

I am sure this piece of information explains a lot about who I am. I don't think it says anything good, but that’s ok, I have accepted that I am a warped individual.

Tie a Day, Number 92

My three tie tribute to the Bahamas and a wonderful vacation is now complete with today’s tie. This fine 100% polyester Looney Tunes character print is the closest thing I have left in my collection to a colorful tropical celebration tie.

All of my Saturday morning favorites make an exaggerated comic appearance in an ocean scene.

Sammy, my six year old, looked at my tie this morning and said, “I like your tie dad. I can’t take my eyes off of it.”

That is the best tie compliment I have had all year.

Tie a Day, Number 66

With skill and patience that I did not know he possessed, Sam slipped in front of the camera on Thursday morning for the perfect Photo Hog shot. His timing was perfect!

Calvin shouted, “Sam!”

I could only smile. There is just a hint of genius in a move like that, and some insight into Sam’s 6 year old personality, and I love it.

Thursday’s tie is the only Valentine’s Day tie I own. A nice little Looney Tunes tie with Pepé Le Pew and that poor little cat that he always sexually harasses. That behavior always amused me as a child, but now I know it is inappropriate (But I still think the cartoon is funny!).

Tie a Day, Number 45

Looney Tunes and Christmas; what could be more fun than that? This parade of Looney Tunes characters marches across today’s tie in rows divided by Holly leaves. All the little figures are wearing Santa hats. I love all of them, but there is a special place in my heart for Taz…

The Christmas ties are going quickly, I think I only have two more, but I might be able to sneak in a couple of Christmas themed T-shirts to make up the difference before my school is off for winter break.

I have been reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas over the last week or so to students at my school, and it has gotten to be such a habit that reading the story is like 12 and half minutes of total peace; for me. It is a very strange experience, sort of like the Zen of reading How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Most of the time it is like a Zen experience, except for last Friday. I read the story and it started badly because it was a last minute, unexpected event and I was rushing around right before I began. I became very upset with myself because I started the story out of breath, and I messed up 3 times. I also had my coordinator there and other adults kept popping in. I guess I am not perfectly in tune with the story, because if I was, none of that would have mattered.

I think I need to work harder at reading the Grinch.
